Last week marked CAD MicroSolutions’ 40th anniversary, a significant milestone in our journey. In this week’s blog post, we take a nostalgic look back at our humble beginnings.
CAD MicroSolutions Inc. began as a solo endeavor led by Roberta Lum. Four decades ago, Roberta, an engineer by profession, found herself grappling with AutoCAD, the prevalent software of the time. Recognizing the lack of accessible training and documentation, she reached out to AutoCAD for support. Their response was a simple offer to purchase a physical instruction manual.
Mastering AutoCAD through the manual, Roberta’s proficiency caught the attention of her peers. Seeing the demand for proper training materials, Roberta seized the opportunity to turn her skills into a business. Procuring multiple copies of the manual, she began reselling them to her colleagues.
Realizing that the need for such resources extended beyond her immediate circle, Roberta embarked on a mission to make them widely available. Thus, CAD MicroSolutions was born. Initially a one-woman show, Roberta bootstrapped the operation, leveraging whatever resources she had to ensure its success.
Today, Roberta may be retired, but her legacy lives on within CAD Micro. Her innovative spirit and keen eye for solutions continue to shape the company’s ethos.
As technology evolves, so does CAD MicroSolutions’ commitment to empowering our clients with the latest and greatest technologies. Design software was once a niche tool used only by some companies, has now become an industry standard, intertwining with emerging technologies like additive manufacturing, advanced simulation, 3D scanning and Metrology, and immersive displays.
Our mission remains steadfast: to equip our clients with the latest tools and training necessary for success. Looking ahead, we will continually refine our product offerings and enhance the customer experience, ensuring that CAD MicroSolutions remains at the forefront of technological advancement.
Happy Birthday, CAD Micro!
